All education is really about ourselves. We study medicine to learn how to keep ourselves healthy, psychology and psychiatry to keep ourselves well mentally, social studies to get along with each other, business helps us learn how to deal with each other and law to keep us out of trouble.
Then we have this great science of religion which teaches us how to keep ourselves well spiritually.
Lord Burleigh once said, “Never trust anyone who is unsound to his religion, for he that is fake to God can never be true to man.” The purpose of religion is to make men honest and upright in all their dealings and associations.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and a foundation for all success and happiness. Religion is not a refuge for the weak, but the instrument of the strong. It is the means by which we may become masters of ourselves, rather than slaves of our environment.
Trials and chastisement come from the Lord in order for us grow and perfect and become stronger…”furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which have corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection into the father of our spirits, and live?….Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterword it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness….” Hebrews 12:5-11
